Purchasing Assistant

Met One Instruments, Inc. is seeking a diligent Purchasing Assistant to support our operations for environmental products focused on air quality, noise and vibration monitoring, tunnel sensors, and meteorology within the US market.
This role is a crucial part of our team, demanding a blend of meticulous execution and collaborative spirit. You’ll be instrumental in managing purchasing orders, liaising with suppliers, and maintaining accurate inventory records. We’re looking for someone who can handle multiple tasks efficiently, contribute to process improvements, and ensure our production and R&D departments have the materials they need to succeed.
The ideal candidate will excel at transforming high-level requests into flawlessly executed purchases, providing crucial supply chain insights, and continuously refining our procurement processes. You will be a self-directed project manager, adept at partnering with multiple stakeholders across production, engineering, and sales.

Essential Functions
I. C-Material Management
Manages the purchasing process for C-materials, including screws, nuts, bolts, and other high-volume, low-cost items, ensuring inventory levels are maintained to prevent production delays.
Places and tracks purchase orders for these materials, confirming timely delivery and resolving any discrepancies with vendors.
Monitors C-material usage and forecasts future needs to optimize stock levels and reduce holding costs.
II. General Purchasing Support
Assists in processing purchase requisitions and creating purchase orders for a wide range of materials and services.
Communicates with vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and confirm order details.
Tracks shipments and follows up on all outstanding orders to ensure on-time delivery.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date purchasing records, vendor information, and material specifications in the company’s purchasing software.
Collaborates with the inventory and receiving teams to verify that incoming deliveries match purchase orders and quality standards.
III. Administrative and Reporting
Prepares and maintains purchasing reports, including order status, vendor performance, and cost analysis.
Identifies opportunities for process improvement within the purchasing workflow to enhance efficiency.
Assists with vendor selection and evaluation, helping to build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
Provides general administrative support to the Purchasing Manager as needed.
Skills:
Strong organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with purchasing software.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
